Abby Community School Society (ACSS) is committed to providing and promoting programs that support life-long learning in the Abbotsford Community. Key elements of this mandate and focus are:
- Promotion of literacy skills in children and youth
- Environmental awareness and development of stewardship in youth
- Localization – activities brought close to the people who will participate.
- Self-help activities organized by the participants
- Integrated service delivery – the bringing together of various agencies an organizations in cooperation to fulfill common purposes.
About ACSS – What is a Community School?
It is a designated school facility that is open beyond the traditional school schedule to offer a variety of community learning and recreational opportunities to people of all ages. Community schools are multi-service facilities working in partnership with other community agencies, organizations and individuals to improve the quality of life in the community. Our Community school will be running programs out of schools in Abbotsford and are such as but not limited to, Abbotsford Senior Secondary School, Abbotsford Middle School, Eugene Reimer Middle School, Chief Dan George Middle School, Dormick Park Elementary, Alexander Elementary School, Matsqui Elementary, Ross Elementary, Godson Elementary, Prince Charles Elementary, Clearbrook Elementary, Ten-Broeck Elementary, Terry Fox Elementary, Centennial Park Elementary, Harry Sayers Elementary, Dave Kandal Elementary, Auguston Elementary, and Aberdeen Elementary.
